The officer, appointed to carry out the royal behest, took a great number of soldiers and ascending a high mountain in the country of Suruga kindled a fire on the summit and there consumed the letter and the deathless medicine,-from which this mountain has been called Fuji-no-Yama, “The Deathless Mountain:” and it is said that the smoke of this fire may still be seen rising towards the clouds.
Translated into English for the Blessed Children in the far-away Home Lands by “Uncle Me.”
Sometimes the name “Fuji-no-Yama” is written by two characters which mean “rich in soldiers,” from the number of soldiers who ascended with the officer to execute the commands of the emperor; and sometimes it is written “no second” because the Princess Splendor will never again visit this earth.
